Where we started
From a young age, I found joy in knitting and crocheting. As a left-handed child surrounded by right-handed teachers, learning these crafts was no easy feat. I was fortunate—my grandmother on my father’s side taught me to crochet with my left hand, while my mother patiently guided me in knitting with my right. These early lessons became the foundation of a lifelong passion.
Over the years, crafting has brought me more than just beautiful projects. It’s been a source of calm, creativity, and connection. Knitting and crocheting are therapeutic in ways that words can hardly describe—they offer rhythm, purpose, and a sense of accomplishment that nourishes the soul.
In 2016, I launched Wol op Wiele as an online-only shop, offering curated wool kits that included a selection of vibrant yarns, a set of knitting needles, and easy-to-follow patterns. Customers could choose from knee blankets, doggie blankets, baby blankets, and even king-size blanket kits—each designed to make crafting accessible and joyful.
By 2024, we expanded to meet growing demand, opening our doors to walk-in customers and stocking a diverse range of yarns. Our catalogue continues to grow every day, shaped by the needs and dreams of our crafting community.
